Gallstones out on the NHS,
arm and a leg on the DfT

If you were rushed into hospital, renewing your vehicle road tax would probably be the last thing on your mind. But that wouldn’t stop the Department for Transport (DfT) automatically fining you £80. And you’d have no appeal.
At Roadsense, this isn’t the only policy we find galling. There’s speed cameras – taxes by another name – which fail to address the causes of most accidents. There’s the fuel-tax levy – the Treasury takes up to 80% of the money you pay at the forecourt in taxes. And there’s the new toll motorways. Enough said.
UK road policies are just plain DfT. And it’s time something was done. Visit www.roadsense.co.uk today and vent your spleen. It’s your site. It’s where you can be heard. The more who join, the more weight we will carry, the more reasons the Government will have for a policy U-turn.
